For better communication with older adults, the speaker should use pauses and phrases to allow the listener to “catch up.” People with hearing loss say that understanding fast speech is harder to understand than soft speech. Secondly, the speaker should speak at a normal rate. (Speaking slowly is not helpful, nor is speaking fast). Lastly, face the person with hearing loss when speaking to them. |
