Hearing aids receive and amplify sound to compensate for your hearing loss. Although there are many types of hearing instrument technology, four standard components apply to all of them: 1) a microphone that receives sound and translates it into electrical impulses; 2) an amplifier which strengthens those electrical impulses; 3) a receiver (speaker) that amplifies those stronger impulses into louder sounds; and 4) a battery that is the power source for the whole system. |
