Not yet, but current legislation proposes a $500 tax credit every five years toward the cost of hearing aids purchased by adults 55 and older and for those claimed as dependents. The Hearing Aid Assistance Tax Credit bill (HR 1646) is currently being considered by the House Ways and Means Committee. A similar bill (S1019) has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa and is in the Senate Finance Committee. The Hearing Industries Association has sample letters of support to send legislators at the HIA website (www.hearing.org) or by calling (202)216-9623 |
